Leeds United winger, Daniel James, has admitted to being blown away by young midfielder Archie Gray during the club’s pre-season programme.

Gray, a relation of Leeds legend Eddie, has been firmly involved in both training and pre-season games this summer, with Jesse Marsch being among those to be impressed by the teenager.

Of course, impressing your manager is one thing but you also need to get the first-team players on board. And James, who only signed from Manchester United not too long ago, has admitted to being seriously impressed by how Gray has done so far in Leeds colours.

“The ability he’s got is something he can take to be one of the best players in the Premier League, if not the world,” James told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“He’s still 16, absolutely crazy but he’s a towering man. He’s still got a lot to grow, grow into his own body but his ability is something I’ve not seen in a young person before. He can go on and do top things. He’s got the right people around him and I’m sure we hope to have him for many years because he’s a great addition to the squad.”

Gray could even push to play a part in the Whites’ opening Premier League fixtures. Despite a raft of new signings, the 16-year-old will be hoping to build firmly on his impressive start.
