Leeds United are reportedly interested in Liverpool winger Ryan Kent this summer after a wonderful campaign on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers – and signing the winger would push the Whites towards promotion.
The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed that the 22-year-old England youth international is being targeted by Leeds, along with Wolves ace Helder Costa, Manchester City’s Jack Harrison and Brighton defender Ben White.
Kent shone for Rangers last season. He had a hand in 15 goals, scoring six times and creating nine assists. His performances against Celtic in the Old Firm derbies caught the eye.
He provided the crucial assist in the 1-0 win on December 29, before scoring in a 2-1 loss to Celtic despite Rangers having 10 men. The former Bristol City and Barnsley loanee showed he can play under enormous pressure.
The Daily Record claim any interested parties would have to spend £7million to land Kent. But after his 2018-19 campaign, that is an absolute bargain for a player of Kent’s talent.
Leeds need wingers but adding him into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad would not only improve Leeds, but see the Yorkshire side take an enormous leap towards promotion from the Championship.
He showed last season that his pace, skill and eye for goal is capable of leaving Celtic for dead – a team that reached the knockout stages of the Europa League. He also impressed in the Europa League, himself.
Still only 22 years of age and boasting plenty of experience in the Championship, Kent can take Leeds from play-off contenders to Championship champions next season if Leeds can beat Rangers to his signature.
