Leeds United were among the Premier League clubs who showed an interest in signing Portugal’s World Cup star Goncalo Ramos in the summer.
Back in August, 90Min reported that Leeds were monitoring his situation during a transfer window where their own striker search hit the headlines.
They chased Charles De Ketelaere for much of the window before he joined AC Milan, with Cody Gakpo and Bamba Dieng also on their radar.
In the end, they had to bring forward the arrival of Wilfried Gnonto but still lacked senior cover and competition for Patrick Bamford.

Leeds have surely missed out on Ramos
At that point, it was being reported that Ramos was available for around £30 million, which is not insignificant but achievable for Leeds if they really want a player.
Now, Ramos’ star has gone to a new level, coming in for Cristiano Ronaldo when Portugal played Switzerland last night and smashing in a hat-trick.
Portugal looked so much better with Ramos in the side and they sent a message to the other seven teams in the competition with that 6-1 win.
Leeds will likely continue their search for a striker in January but must know that Ramos is likely to be beyond them now.
Ramos’ explosion on the world stage shows that Leeds are identifying top players, it is just a case of getting them over the line while they can.
Ramos is only two goals behind Golden Boot leader Kylian Mbappe and what a story it would be if he won that particular individual honour.
