In the summer, Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa made it clear to some players that a loan move might be best for their development this season. One player who moved out temporarily was Tyler Denton.
With Leeds signing Barry Douglas and Marcelo Bielsa happy with Tom Pearce, Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi as cover, the youngster was allowed to join Peterborough United for the season. He joined up with his former Leeds boss Steve Evans at London Road and would have been looking to make an impact on the first-team with the Posh.
However, it has not been an easy season for the 23-year-old. He has played just seven times for the club in League One this season.
He had a run in the side in November and then again in January but soon found himself out of the matchday squad once again.
But at the weekend Denton was again given a chance in the starting XI. However, he might have blown it. He was sent off in the 45th minute of the 3-1 loss to Doncaster Rovers.
His two yellow cards were both avoidable, with the second coming for a poor challenge on fellow Leeds United loanee Mallik Wilks.
Denton has a further 18 months left on his Leeds contract but this was the latest sign that he is unlikely to have a long-term future at Elland Road.
