Last January, Leeds United addressed their left-back issue by signing Belgian defender Laurens De Bock. The Club Brugge defender signed in a deal reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post to be £1.5 million. However, he did not have the desired impact at Elland Road.
His performances were not up to scratch and injuries also scuppered his start to life in West Yorkshire. New manager Paul Heckingbottom then decided he preferred Tom Pearce and De Bock was left watching the end of the season play out.

Marcelo Bielsa arrived in the summer and swiftly decided he did not want De Bock. Barry Douglas arrived from Wolves and Leeds let De Bock head to KV Oostende on loan until the end of the season.
Judging by the comments of the Belgian club’s sporting director recently, he does not have a long-term future there either.
“We are already doing this transfer (Oostende signed left-back Bojan Nastic on deadline day) with a view to next season. Then Laurens De Bock must definitively return to Leeds.”
– Oostende sporting director Hugo Broos (Gazet van Antwerpen)
So De Bock appears to be set for a summer of limbo.
Leeds United’s mercurial boss Marcelo Bielsa clearly did not fancy him and his future at Elland Road, therefore, looks non-existent. Oostende are also not keen so De Bock will have a fight on his hands trying to find another team.
Hopefully, he can find a new team to resurrect his reputation. But that does not look like it will be at Leeds United.
