Leeds United’s decision to axe Romario Vieira justified as he is still a free agent

Leeds United chose to release Romario Vieira at the end of last season.

The young midfielder left without ever playing a senior match for Leeds. He was perhaps better known as the twin brother of the more famous Ronaldo Vieira.

Ronaldo Vieira earned himself a lucrative move to Serie A this summer, where he joined Sampdoria.

But Romario Vieira remains without a club and Leeds’ decision to get rid of him looks to have been justified.

The 20-year-old mainly featured for Leeds’ youth sides but he did make the first-team bench on a couple of occasions.

However, the once-capped Guinea Bissau international never played a senior game for the Whites before leaving earlier this summer.

Since then, he has been on trial with Doncaster Rovers and then Bradford City.

If Vieira was not deemed good enough for two League One sides, he is not good enough for Leeds.

Moreover, Bradford are at the bottom of the league and surely keen to strengthen their squad.

If Vieira could not convince the Bantams that he was good enough to earn a new contract then it is no surprise that Leeds were not willing to keep him this season.

Although some Leeds fans questioned the decision at the time, Vieira’s failure to find a club since leaving just highlights that the club made the right decision.
