Leeds United talent Mateusz Bogusz has made it clear he will be leaving the club on loan this summer, as he feels ready to play more regular first-team football.

The Polish midfielder made his Championship debut in the final game of the season against Charlton Athletic recently but it was a largely disappointing campaign for the player.

After impressing in pre-season, many expected Bogusz to play a bigger role in the Leeds first-team. However, he has struggled to force his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans and the 18-year-old has made it clear he will be heading out on loan after signing a contract extension at Leeds.

In fact, it appears the Polish under-21 star had wanted to leave in January.

“I wanted to go on loan this season, but Bielsa didn’t let anyone go,” Bogusz told TVP Sport. “Now I will be gone 100 percent, we’ve already talked about it. First I will sign a new contract and then I will go on loan.”

As for his destination, the teenager is unsure. The Championship will undoubtedly be an option but he was wanted by clubs around Europe before Leeds won the race for his signature in January 2019 and plenty of teams will be likely to make a move for his services.

“I do not know yet. I have various offers, but I have to deal with the club because they said they won’t loan me anywhere. I don’t know yet whether the Championship or to another country. I think that in days I will know where I will go.”

Bogusz is still, clearly, a top talent that Leeds have plans for going forward.

However, with the club now promoted to the Premier League, his chances of first-team football are only likely to diminish and the chance to play regularly away from Thorp Arch might now be the best option for the benefit of his career.

Hopefully, he can come back an even better player and become a genuine Leeds United first-team option.
