Leeds United signed talented Polish youngster Mateusz Bogusz in January. Signed from Ruch Chorzow, the fee involved was undisclosed. However, Przeglad Sportowy suggested it was in the region of €200,000 (£172,000).
It looked an excellent piece of recruitment for the future. However, Bogusz’s form for the Leeds United under-23s actually saw him force a way into the first-team picture by the end of the season.
This summer he has a chance to continue making a name for himself. He is part of his nation’s squad for the Under-20 World Cup, being held in Poland.

However, it has not been an ideal start on an individual level for the youngster. He was handed a surprise start in the opening fixture against Colombia but struggled in a forward role as Poland lost 2-0 to Colombia. He was subbed off in that game and for the second game of the competition, he was left out of the starting XI.
Unfortunately for Bogusz on an individual level, his team-mates went on to thrash Tahiti 5-0.
Next up is Senegal, who have won their opening two games at the competition and Bogusz is unlikely to start the game tomorrow night.
Whatever does happen, with a potential exit on the cards for Poland at the group stage, Leeds United fans will just hope he has learned plenty from this experience with his national team.
