Leeds United under-16s post impressive 13-0 thrashing against Mansfield u-17s

Leeds United have a fairly established record of producing top young talent. The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Jamie Shackleton and Jack Clarke are currently in the first-team whilst other names, like Sam Byram, Lewis Cook, Fabian Delph, Danny Rose and Charlie Taylor, are all currently playing regular football in the Premier League.

There is undoubtedly a lot of talent in and around West Yorkshire and last season the club’s successful under-23 campaign with Carlos Corberan at the helm added more proof to that.

Leeds have talented players like Nohan Kenneh, Alfie McCalmont and Robbie Gotts now looking to break into the first-team and it seems the generations below are just as exciting.

That is, if the under-16s result yesterday is anything to go by.

As reported by LUFC Youth on Twitter, the club’s youngsters thrashed a Mansfield Town under-17 outfit 13-0 last night.

Now whilst it might not be as impressive as the 50-1 thrashing Ajax’s under-12s recently pulled off against the kids at MVV Maastricht, it is still an eye-catching scoreline – especially considering Mansfield being an age-group higher.

Leeds United fans will just hope there are some gems being polished in that under-16 category that can one day go on to become the next Kalvin Phillips in the Leeds United first team.
