Leeds United transfer activity could spell bad news for Mallik Wilks

Mallik Wilks spent last season out on loan from Leeds United. The talented wideman shone for Doncaster Rovers in their eventually unsuccessful promotion push.

With 16 goals and 12 assists, there is a reason why many Leeds fans would like to see Wilks get a chance at Elland Road next season.

However, it looks as though that might not be the best option for the player.

A week ago, that was a different story. However, Leeds are now closing in on the signatures of both Jack Harrison and Helder Costa, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

With Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas and Pablo Hernandez also wide options, it leaves Wilks struggling for a role.

However, with Jack Clarke’s impending move to Tottenham Hotspur, perhaps there is still room for Wilks?

It would seem not. As reported by The Guardian, Tottenham have now agreed to loan Clarke back to Leeds for the 2019-20 season after concluding an £11.5 million deal for the player this week.

That leaves Wilks way out of the loop in the wide areas. With the likes of Barnsley and Hull City said to be lurking (sources YEP and Hull Daily Mail respectively), Leeds are likely to have options when it comes to loaning out Wilks again next season.

If they can get him playing in the Championship and not for a direct promotion rival that could be the perfect result for the upcoming season.
