Leeds United are certainly in a bit of a bind in the striking position now. Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to have a streamlined squad has backfired slightly with Patrick Bamford’s knee injury. The £7 million summer signing is unlikely to feature again before 2019 and it leaves Leeds short up front.
Of course, there is still the free agent market. A look of the potential freebies Leeds could sign includes the likes of former target Jerry Mbakogu, ex-Everton giant Lacina Traore and even the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Dimitar Berbatov and former Leeds star Robbie Keane.
But perhaps they should look a little further down that list, to a perfect solution to their problems.

Yann Kermorgant is not the most fashionable of players. But he does know a thing or two about scoring goals in the Championship. Leeds fans know this all too well. He put paid to Leeds’ play-off chances in 2016-17 with a goal in a 1-0 Reading win.
Overall, in 211 Championship appearances with the likes of Leicester, Charlton, Bournemouth, and Reading he has 65 goals to his name. Add 30 assists, and it’s not bad for a player criminally underrated at this level.
He left Reading this summer by mutual consent. That came just a few months after reversing a decision to retire this summer by signing on for one more season.
Kermorgant must clearly feel he has one more year of Championship football left in him. If Leeds want affordable and reliable cover in the striking position, then the unfashionable but potent Frenchman is a perfect recruit.
