Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts has been discussing his loan move to Lincoln City, after a move to the Imps was confirmed last night.

The talented midfielder, who can also play at right-back, has joined the League One side on a season-long loan deal with first-team opportunities looking slim at Elland Road.

It is the player’s first move away from Leeds and he has now admitted the time finally felt right for him to experience a new club and a new way of living.

“It just excites me, to be honest,” Gotts told the Lincoln City website. “I think now is the time, the time is right to do it. I feel like I want to experience it.

“I feel like it will be good for me on and off the pitch just living on my own. I haven’t experienced that. I’ve just been comforted a bit so yeah really happy to get going.”

Gotts will no doubt need to do a lot of growing up now he is away from the home comforts he was afforded in West Yorkshire.

It could be a vital period in his career, as Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa and the club as a whole clearly rate his talent.

Gotts was threatening to become a regular member of the Leeds first-team last season before an injury waylaid him after an impressive debut against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Playing for Michael Appleton’s Imps side will hopefully afford him plenty of first-team action whilst also helping shape him off the pitch as well.
