Leeds United performed something of a raid on the League Two side Carlisle United in the summer, snapping up 18-year-old talent Liam McCarron. As reported by the Daily Mail, Leeds spent around £250,000 on the player, who signed a three-year deal at Elland Road.
It came after his breakout campaign at Brunton Park, where he played 20 times for the Cumbrians.
He has since been a regular in Leeds United’s under-23 side and the Preston-born star has now received international accolades.
MOT Leeds News reported last week that a Scottish FA official was present for Leeds under-23s win over Bolton Wanderers.

He was said to be watching both McCarron, and fellow summer recruit Stuart McKinstry, who arrived from Motherwell.
McCarron scored in that game and appears to have impressed the Scottish representative. McCarron is currently with the Scotland under-19 side for friendly matches against the Czech Republic in Spain.
The News and Star reports that McCarron did not feature in the first friendly but will hopefully play tomorrow and receive his first cap at any age level for Scotland.
Leeds United clearly feel there is a talent to be nurtured with the 18-year-old and this international recognition backs up that belief. Hopefully, he can continue to grow at Thorp Arch and become a first-team option at Elland Road in the years to come.
