Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has been discussing his recent good form for the Poland national team, and his happiness at playing in a more advanced number 10 role.

Klich has continued his excellent form in the Premier League with Leeds United with his national team during the most recent international break. That included a star display against Bosnia in a 3-0 win for his country last night.

Klich was excellent throughout the game, and provided a delicious assist for Robert Lewandowski to fire his second and Poland’s third goal of the game in Wroclaw.

The 30-year-old excelled playing just behind Lewandowski in attack and speaking to the media in his homeland, Klich made it clear that he enjoys playing in the role and would be happy to do so in the future for his nation.

“I do not know if these meetings will help me win a place in the top eleven of the team permanently, and in this exact position,”  Klich informed TVP Sport. “You have to ask the trainer about it. I know for sure that I will play wherever the coach wishes. I do not hide, however, that the higher I am set, the better I feel. In position ten I can be more aggressive towards my opponent and that suits me very well. Today we are happy about the next three points.”

Of course, Klich’s performances in a more advanced role opened up the possibility of him doing similar at Elland Road.

At present, Leeds use Klich as a number eight, a box-to-box dynamo. Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo Moreno have been used behind Patrick Bamford in attack, whilst the currently injured Pablo Hernandez is the regular option in that position.

It is hard to see Marcelo Bielsa moving Klich away from his current role in the starting line-up. The Pole has demonstrated incredible consistency in his box-to-box role and Bielsa is clearly of the opinion that is his best position.

But should Leeds ever find themselves short in a more attacking midfield position, then Klich is clearly ready to take up the challenge.
