Leeds United might have to enter the transfer market again for a new centre-back after the departure of Pontus Jansson. So would Michael Hector be a good acquisition for the Whites?
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds sold the Swedish international to Brentford for £5.5 million this week. The move came after a complete breakdown in the relationship between club and player.
Leeds have already signed a centre-back this summer in Ben White. The Brighton loanee does not, however, have any Championship experience and Marcelo Bielsa discovered the hard way last season that Leeds were light on central defenders.
Fans will certainly hope for another defensive recruit and Hector would be perfect.

The Jamaican international has bags of Championship experience. The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Reading before joining Chelsea in 2015. He was loaned back to Berkshire and has also had Championship loan spells at Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.
Hector was brilliant at Hillsborough last season and the 24-cap international could easily take Leeds to the next level at the back.
The 6ft 4ins defender possesses similar physical traits to the departing Jansson. But, equally, the Londoner is just as surprisingly adept with the ball at his feet.
Leeds have done plenty of loan business with Chelsea recently. Lewis Baker, Jamal Blackman, and Izzy Brown all headed to Elland Road last summer. The trio struggled at Leeds but Hector looks a far more proven commodity.
Whether Frank Lampard, the Elland Road pantomime villain of 2018-19, being Chelsea’s new manager might impact their chances of signing loanees from Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.
But if not, Leeds should definitely consider taking a chance on Hector next season.
