In the summer Leeds United pulled off something of a shock move. Barry Douglas joined the club in a reported £3 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer.
It came as a shock because of the Scottish defender’s form for Wolves the previous season. He had been an assist machine for the Championship winners. Were it not for teen sensation Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham, he would have been in the Championship team of the season.
Wolves signed Jonny Otto in the summer and simply decided that Douglas was not needed in the Premier League. Leeds were more than happy to take him off their hands and he has been a brilliant recruit.
So should Leeds try to raid Wolves again for one of their Championship winning stars?
Like Douglas, John Ruddy was integral to Wolves’ title win. However, upon promotion to the Premier League, Wolves decided to sign the excellent Portugal international Rui Patricio.
It left Ruddy as number two and that is a shame for a player with an England cap.
It would obviously depend on Wolves identifying a new back-up stopper, but Leeds should undoubtedly consider asking the question.
Ruddy would be a sensational recruit to fill the gap in the goalkeeper position at Elland Road.
Not many thought Leeds could get their hands in Douglas in the summer. So why not repeat the trick with Ruddy this month?
