Leeds United are chasing a move for Daniel James in the January transfer window. Other then that, activity is expected to be unlikely.
However, as reported by YEP journalist Phil Hay, Leeds are still open for a deal for a number 10.
Samuel Saiz’s exit and worries over the fitness of Izzy Brown and Patrick Bamford will undoubtedly be behind that apparent interest.
Leeds will, however, seemingly only make the move when they feel there is a genuine chance of bringing in a top player at a low price or even on loan.
So why not salvage a summer transfer bid for one of the best number 10’s in the Championship over the past few years?

The player in question is Matej Vydra. Leeds were strongly linked with a move for the Czech international in the summer. Victor Orta got the thumbs up from Marcelo Bielsa and a deal looked to be on the cards. As reported by Sky Sports, Leeds’ £11 million move for the player fell apart over his desire to play in the Premier League.
He got his wish eventually, joining Burnley in August.
However, it has not been a dream start to life at Turf Moor. Vydra has not started a league game for Burnley since November and given Sean Dyche’s sides current form, it is unlikely he will be back in the starting XI anytime soon.
If Burnley make their own moves in the transfer window than Vydra could find himself way down the pecking order. At that point, a cheeky loan move would be a shrewd piece of business for Leeds. If they could bring in Vydra then surely they would strengthen their chances of promotion to the Premier League. It is certainly an option worth re-considering.
