Leeds United seem set to make a move for Kalvin Phillips in the summer.
Phillips is keen to re-join Leeds in what could be a romantic reunion between both parties very soon.
Since departing Elland Road to sign for Manchester City, the England international’s career has gone downhill.
So much so that Kalvin Phillips made just 31 appearances in one and a half seasons at the Etihad Stadium before heading out on loan to West Ham United and Ipswich Town.
Leeds United should sign Divine Mukasa instead of Kalvin Phillips
With Phillips’ stock having plummeted since he initially left Leeds United, Daniel Farke’s side should instead make a move for another Manchester City midfielder in Divine Mukasa.
While Mukasa is not a number six by trade, he is one of the most gifted midfield prospects in the country — capable of playing as an attacking midfielder and in a withdrawn position.

The 17-year-old looks far too good for youth football, having registered a staggering tally of 42 goal contributions (17 goals and 25 assists) in 41 appearances for Manchester City at U-18 level.
Aside from showing outstanding potential in the final third, Mukasa is an excellent passer from deeper areas, a brilliant carrier of the ball and adept at coming out on top in duels.
Leeds should be looking to sign the next up and coming superstar instead of Phillips, whose time at West Ham was criticised and at Ipswich, injuries and rotation meant he started only 14 Premier League games.

While the treble-winner played limited minutes at Manchester City, he did not give Pep Guardiola much of a reason to give him more chances as he looked alarmingly off the pace, struggled to cover ground and lost the ball needlessly.
Phillips’ subsequent loan spells should also be red flags for Leeds, with Mukasa being the next best thing and still not being a first-team player at City.
Previously, Leeds United have signed the likes of Ian Poveda and Darko Gyabi from the Sky Blues and they could leverage their strong business relationship with them by trying to sign the Englishman.
Manchester City’s stance on Divine Mukasa sale
In April, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Bayern Munich and Ajax sent scouts to watch Mukasa in action.
However, Manchester City intend to keep the teenager and extend his contract.
But even so, Leeds could take a stab at trying to sign Mukasa on loan at the very least instead of negotiating a deal to sign Phillips, considering City have been open to letting their youngsters like James McAtee and Callum Doyle leave temporarily in the past.
