Leeds United should enter race for 11-goal forward targeted by Aston Villa

Leeds United succumbed to defeat in the Championship play-offs last night, losing 4-3 on aggregate to Derby County at Elland Road.

A Stuart Dallas double on the night wasn’t enough for the Whites. They were beaten by a Jack Marriott brace and goals from Mason Mount and Harry Wilson.

It is unclear whether or not Marcelo Bielsa will still be at the helm next season at this stage. The Argentine hinted at the end of the game last night that the time wasn’t right to discuss his future.

When the dust settles Leeds will have little choice but to get their ducks in a row for next season. Some players are likely to leave the club, whilst others will be added to the group to try and win promotion next time around.

The Whites might have to tighten the belts somewhat on the transfer front. Although they weren’t heavy spenders last summer, the cost of not winning promotion might still have an impact.

Better options

One area for Bielsa, or whoever is in charge, to improve on is in attack. Patrick Bamford cut an isolated figure last night, whilst Kemar Roofe has spent some of the season out injured.

Aston Villa are interested in Lincoln City forward Bruno Andrade, according to Lincolnshire Live, and Leeds would be wise to join the chase.

The 25-year-old signed for the Imps from Boreham Wood last summer, bagging 11 goals and registering eight assists during his maiden campaign.

Leeds are desperate for reinforcements up front and Andrade is versatile. He can play either out wide or through the middle and his energy would see him fit into the team’s style with ease.

The Portuguese forward hasn’t hit his peak yet and Leeds could get him signed up ahead of his very best years.
