‘Wow’, ‘Typical’: Leeds fans react as they draw Salford City in the EFL Cup

Leeds United discovered who they will face in the first round of the EFL Cup yesterday evening, with the draw made in London.

The Whites will travel to newly-promoted Salford City for the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men will aim to go deeper into the competition than they did last season. Leeds were defeated in the second round by Preston North End at Elland Road.

Their first round opponents are co-owned by several members of Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92′ and it almost seemed inevitable that Leeds would be drawn alongside them first up.

David Beckham joined Gary and Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt earlier this year as a part-owner of the football club.

The Leeds fans are fairly excited about the trip to face the Football League newcomers.

Naturally, the chance to put one over any club that has anything to do with a set of former Manchester United players is right up Leeds’ street.

The supporters typically travel in their droves to Leeds games and they will certainly sell out their allocation for the short trip to Salford.

Following the EFL Cup draw we looked at a selection of tweets from Leeds fans:
