No mystery January target

Leeds United were not after any other players on transfer deadline day other than Swansea City winger Daniel James. As reported on the Inside Elland Road podcast for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds had looked at a number of other midfielders before focusing on James.

The podcast mentioned that Marcelo Bielsa was not convinced by Steven Zuber of Hoffenheim, who eventually joined Stuttgart, whilst Callum O’Dowda and Jese Rodriguez of Bristol City and PSG respectively were also considered.

But Leeds were pushing for James with no mystery names on the radar.

O’Dowda contract

O’Dowda may come back into focus in the summer. The Bristol Post has reported today that the Irishman will not be signing a new contract at the club until he knows where his club stands in the summer.

Bristol City are currently fighting for promotion and the winger is believed to be waiting to see if they are playing Premier League football before committing himself to Ashton Gate. The Bristol Post hinted at a £10 million valuation of the player in January.

James in no rush

Daniel James is in a similar contract situation and The Mirror is now reporting he will not be rushing to sign a new deal after his recent FA Cup heroics.

The report claims he was looking forward to joining Leeds, and returning to his home county of Yorkshire, before Swansea pulled the plug on a move at the 11th hour.

He is now ready to wait until the end of the season as Leeds prepare a return bid in the summer.
