Leeds United round-up: Gomez linked, ‘intelligent’ Hernandez and popstar put in place

Gomez linked

Goal are reporting that Ibai Gomez is a transfer target for Leeds United. The report claims Leeds are willing to target the Basque attacking midfielder in the winter, with his contract at Alaves ending in the summer.

El Correo, as relayed by Sport Witness, have reported that Eibar, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad are keen, but the Basque source does not mention Leeds.

Gomez played under Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic, which certainly gives the reports credence. However, with Alaves currently third in La Liga and Gomez a regular, it would be a shock move.

Bielsa on Hernandez

Leeds United went back to the top of the Championship last night, as they defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 at Elland Road.

Golas from Kemar Roofe and Liam Cooper proved enough for Leeds to grab the win. West Brom’s 4-0 home loss to Derby County saw Leeds to the top.

After the game Marcelo Bielsa had special praise for the returning Pablo Hernandez, who put in a typically brilliant display. He labelled the Spaniard ‘very intelligent’ and Leeds fans were certainly pleased to see him back.

Horan slapped down

Leeds’ twitter account is also making the news, after getting into a spat with former One Direction member Niall Horan.

The Irishman tweeted that nobody likes Leeds last night, so the West Yorkshire club’s social arm hit back. They suggested nobody liked any of Niall’s solo material since ‘1D’ split.

One Direction fans versus Leeds United fans? That could be an interesting battle.
