Leeds United round-up: Bookies favourites, Lampard praise and Wilks strikes again

A selection of the latest news and gossip from Leeds United.

Bookies favourites

Leeds United have been installed as the new favourites to win the Championship, following the opening two games of the season. Leeds have been impressive in both of their games, picking up wins against pre-season favourites Stoke City and Derby County.

They thrashed Derby 4-1 yesterday and Marcelo Bielsa has the Whites playing with the energy he demands.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the West Yorkshire side have dropped to 9-2 favourites to win the Championship.

Lampard praise

Opposing manager Frank Lampard was high in his praise for Leeds after his side’s humbling defeat.

He stated that Leeds were simply the better team in their 4-1 win at Pride Park.

Two goals from Kemar Roofe were sandwiched by finishes from Mateusz Klich and Ezgjan Alioski as Leeds made it two wins from two.

Wilks scores again

Mallik Wilks continued his good form at loan club Doncaster Rovers this weekend. The young striker scored his second goal in as many games as the League One side won again.

Grant McCann’s side won 3-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium against Wycombe Wanderers. Wilks scored the first goal of the game, following up on his goal against Southend United last week.
