Leeds United reportedly discussing Ollie Watkins as transfer target

Leeds United have discussed the possibility of signing Ollie Watkins this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Brentford striker has been spoken of as a potential recruit this summer as Leeds look to bring in a striker to support Patrick Bamford.

The news will not surprise many Leeds fans who saw a social media post in which Bielsa appeared to be studying a Watkins dossier during his usual visit to his local Costa Coffee.

It will however excite Leeds fans, despite some previous anger shown toward the Griffin Park star for diving in a game against Leeds in 2018-19.

Leeds need striking recruits and Watkins’ ability to play from the wing makes him a double threat.

The 24-year-old has had an incredible season with the Bees, scoring 26 goals in 49 games and helping Brentford into the Championship play-off final.

Of course, if Leeds United are to sign Watkins, they might need Brentford to fail in their fixture against Fulham at Wembley.

If they do, then the chances of luring Watkins away to play Premier League football will undoubtedly increase.

A recent report from 90min detailed how Watkins would potentially be available for £18 million if Brentford fail to get promoted.

That would seem a reasonable fee for Leeds to pay if it helps them improve one of their biggest areas of weakness.
