Leeds United could be set for fresh investment after L’Equipe reported news of a meeting between the Whites and PSG owners Qatar Sport Investment (QSI).

The report claims that the boss of QSI, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is set to meet with Leeds chief Andrea Radrizzani this week in Doha.

QSI were reportedly interested in purchasing Roma, according to L’Equipe, although their desire to have a presence in English football makes Leeds a more attractive proposition.

It is thought that negotiations have been ongoing for several months.

Leeds were narrowly beaten by Derby County in the Championship play-offs recently, denying them in their quest to reach the Premier League.

The Whites were recently bolstered by the news that boss Marcelo Bielsa will continue in his role for the 2019/20 campaign.

TBR Verdict

If QSI completes a deal to purchase Leeds United then it will only serve to enhance their prospects of becoming one of the country’s top clubs once again.

Promotion to the Premier League will need to be won next season but given the amount of wealth which the Qatari group has; there is every possibility they could go up and be competitive in the top-flight.

Leeds have the infrastructure, fan base and manager already in place to become a force. Some reinforcements on the pitch can see them complete their promotion mission next season and that will be the immediate aim.

As with any takeover, this news might have some Leeds fans nervous about Bielsa’s role. Even though he has already committed to continuing next season; supporters will hope that any potential investment doesn’t change the Argentine’s involvement.
