Leif Davis has gone under the knife to clear up an issue in his knee and the Leeds United defender is expected to return to action within a month – and he has posted on Instagram from his hospital bed.

Davis, 20, has been used five times by Marcelo Bielsa this season – three times as a substitute in the Championship and twice in the Carabao Cup against Salford City and Stoke City. He is one of the best young players at the club.

So much so, that the Newcastle-born defender has a nickname – “very good Davis” – after LUTV cameras picked up Bielsa applauding the defender in a pre-season friendly against Italian side Cagliari in the summer.

However, the youngster has struggled to break into the starting eleven this season with Gjanni Alioski being preferred as a left-back by Bielsa and Barry Douglas acting as cover. Davis posted on Instagram after his operation.

Leeds Live reported that Davis is expected to return to action within a month and that means he could return in time for a Wednesday night trip to Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough on February 26.

Jamal Blackman, who managed just two appearances for Leeds’ senior side last season on loan from Chelsea before breaking his leg, reacted to his post by wishing Davis a quick recovery. Douglas also sent a similar message.
