Pablo Hernandez was one of Leeds United’s top performers last season with 12 goals and 12 assists.
He has picked up in a similar vein of form during the current campaign and despite not getting any younger, he looks a vitally important part of Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
The Spanish wizard arrived, initially on loan, from Al-Arabi but had also played for Valencia, Getafe and Swansea City.
This season Hernandez has two goals and two assists from his first five outings as Leeds sit third in the Championship.
With the international break now upon us, Hernandez has been talking to LUTV about his fantasy 6-a-side team.
The 34-year-old was asked to pick six players with different criteria for each player selected for his team.
For the category of current team-mate, he perhaps surprisingly selected Ezgjan Alioski. The cult-hero made the grade and was the only remotely defensive player selected.
In the criteria of player he’s played against, he opted for an unsurprising choice of Lionel Messi.
One player who won’t see him adhered to Leeds fans that was selected was Manchester United man Juan Mata, he made the grade as a former team-mate of Hernandez’s.
Manchester City star David Silva made the cut in the criteria of another player who plays in his position.
Former Valencia team-mate Pablo Piatti was also included. Michael Laudrup completed the line-up; with Hernandez admitting to LUTV that he idolised the ex-Barcelona man when he was growing up.
It is certainly a random selection of players from Hernandez and perhaps has one glaring omission to theoretically be an actual team. A goalkeeper!
Alioski is the name that is perhaps most surprising. Of all his team-mates that could have been chosen, he plumped for one who isn’t typically considered as one of Leeds’ very best players.
A team featuring Messi, Silva and Mata wouldn’t be short of flair and the team certainly epitomises Hernandez’s all-action style of play.
