£10 million star wanted
The big news at Leeds United today is the attempt to sign the Championship’s top-scorer Matej Vydra from Derby County.
As reported by the Daily Mail it seems that Leeds United are ready to test the Rams with a move for the player, who is said to be valued at over £10 million.
The Czech Republic international scored 22 goals last season and is one of the Championship’s most consistent performers.
The move is not seen as an alternative to Abel Hernandez. Leeds want to sign both players this summer and form a very fearsome attacking line-up.
Anita on the go
Leeds United will sell Vurnon Anita this summer, according to reports.
The Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that the Dutchman will be moved on in the weeks to come to make room for new recruits. His arrival last summer looked a decent one. Versatile and with experience at both Championship and Premier League levels.
Despite offering plenty of cover, when he played the displays were erratic and fans were left frustrated with what they saw from the Ajax youth product.
Now the club are looking to offload the player this summer to cut him from his wage-bill.
Leeds may face a battle to keep hold of their goalkeeping talent Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer. It is being reported by The Sun on Sunday (June 10th, page 60) that the Northern Irishman is a target for the newly promoted Premier League side.
The stopper was outstanding last season after stepping in for the out of form Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan and was recently capped by Northern Ireland for the first time.
Leeds are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper themselves, but will not want to lose their prize young talent.
