Another name has been mentioned in Leeds United’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper. The player in question is Newcastle United goalie Karl Darlow. In passing, the Chronicle have claimed that Leeds are keen on the player who they value at around £2 million.
Leeds need another stopper after a poor campaign from both Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan.
Newcastle meanwhile are hopeful of completing a permanent deal for Martin Dubravka which would leave Darlow completely out of favour. With Rob Elliot and Freddie Woodman at the club, he would be fourth-choice.
Darlow has plenty of Championship experience with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest so would be a sensible recruit for Leeds.
Debut for BPF
Leeds United’s current goalkeeper is however celebrating today, after making his senior international debut. Bailey Peacock-Farrell played the second-half against World Cup participants Panama and kept a clean sheet in the game.
The youngster has been excellent for Leeds since being given the chance as number one, with the form of Leeds’ more experienced goalkeepers out the window.
Now he will look to continue proving he is good enough to be the regular choice for Leeds with more international caps for his nation.
It looks as though Luke Ayling is doing his best to lure former team-mate Kyle Bartley to the club, at least according to his girlfriend’s Instagram. She posted a picture with the Swansea City defender with the caption ‘working on it. #LUFC.’
Leeds defender Ayling and Bartley came through the ranks at Arsenal together and are clearly still close friends.
Leeds are hopeful of bringing Bartley back to Elland Road this summer, where he spent an immensely impressive season on loan in 2016-17.
With Ayling’s help, perhaps Leeds can pull it off.
