Leeds United need Lewis Baker to rediscover his Vitesse form

Leeds United take on Hull City in the Championship this evening, hoping to get back to winning ways. The Whites have suffered in recent fixtures, with injuries leaving them without main creative threats Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe. Despite that, they have remained competitive. But without the cutting edge, finding all three points has been difficult.

What Leeds need is for all their currently available players to step up. One man who falls into this category is Lewis Baker.

Signed from Chelsea on loan in the summer he has not yet shown his best form for Leeds. In fact, he has been asked to play with the under-23s on occasion to try and spark him into life.

But the 23-year-old is an excellent talent and Leeds need him to rediscover the form he showed in 2016-17.

That season, he was with Chelsea’s infamous farm club Vitesse Arnhem. The England under-21 international had a sensational campaign.

In 39 games with the Dutch outfit, he managed to find the net 15 times. He also provided seven assists, becoming one of the more feared central midfielders in the Eredivisie.

That sort of form is what Leeds need now if Baker is called upon from the bench. So far, he has failed to register an assist or a goal in his seven Championship appearances. If he can change that tonight v Hull, it could be the start of an important Leeds United spell.
