Leeds United miss out on Argentine talent as CSKA Moscow confirm signing

Leeds United have missed out on Argentine striker Adolfo Gaich this summer after Russian giants CSKA Moscow confirmed on Instagram that they had completed a move to sign the target man from San Lorenzo.

Gaich, 21, has been in sparkling form for San Lorenzo of late – scoring seven goals in 27 senior appearances for the Argentine side. He has also broken into the Argentina set-up, making a late sub outing against Mexico in 2019.

TYC Sports claim San Lorenzo had accepted a £7.5million offer for Gaich in July, though Leeds had been linked by Argentine website Ole. Now, it appears Leeds have missed out on the talismanic striker.

That is because Gaich has been confirmed as signing a five-year contract with CSKA Moscow – with the Russian side posting confirmation on Instagram. Gaich could be playing in next season’s Europa League.

It sees Leeds miss out on a striker to CSKA for a second time in as many years, with Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez choosing to join the Russians over Leeds in Marcelo Bielsa’s first summer at the club.

The Whites remain in the market for a new striker, with Brentford ace Ollie Watkins strongly linked with a move to Elland Road. Victor Orta is also looking to replace the loss of Ben White at centre-back, with Juan Foyth linked.
