Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw admits he would love to add goals to his game

Leeds United went back to the top of the Championship yesterday with a 1-0 win over Brentford at Elland Road. It was Eddie Nketiah who got the crucial goal for the West Yorkshire side. The Arsenal loanee has wasted little time hitting the back of the net for Leeds and will hope this is one of many Championship goals this season.

One player who has not been so lucky in front of goal for Leeds is midfielder Adam Forshaw. The January 2018 signing from Middlesbrough has failed to score in his 48 games for Leeds United.

It was a topic of discussion for the Leeds midfielder in conversation with BBC West Yorkshire Sport after last night’s game.

“It’s everything anyone says to me when they seem me in the streets, ‘you going to score that goal or what?’, so I want it to be a part of my game…

“It’s not the be-all and end-all. Honestly, genuinely, I was so happy it fell to Pat(rick Bamford) at the weekend (v Wigan) and he put it away. You always want your number nines scoring goals.

“I’m a team player. At the end of the day, we won the game. It’s not about me scoring the goals.”

Undoubtedly, it would be great if Forshaw added goals to his game. However, Mateusz Klich carries the load from midfield well and with Patrick Bamford, Eddie Nketiah and Pablo Hernandez all in form, Leeds have currently got plenty of scoring options.

Forshaw has started the season in fantastic form and fans at Elland Road will just hope he focuses on doing the jobs he does best.

However, if and when he does finally get his Leeds United goal, you can expect quite a relief from the midfield operator.
