Poland kicked off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win away at Austria. Krzysztof Piatek netted the only goal of the game, whilst Leeds man Mateusz Klich operated in midfield.

It was a good win for Poland who were vastly disappointing at the World Cup last summer.

The Poles failed to make it out of a group that included Japan, Senegal, and Colombia.

Klich has been in fine form for Leeds this season. The 28-year-old has netted eight goals and claimed seven assists as the Whites sit third in the Championship.

The man who signed for £1.5 million from Utrecht, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, has normally featured either in central midfield or further forward in Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

Last night in Jerzy Brzęczek’s team he operated in a more defensive midfield role, however, and still put in a solid performance.

Leeds fans have started to see the best of Kilch as the 2018/19 season has progressed.

Last night several Whites cast an eye towards Poland’s game with Austria to hopefully see the midfielder shine.

They weren’t disappointed and took to Twitter at the end of the game to congratulate their player on a fine display.
