It set everything up nicely towards a mouthwatering promotion showdown with Sheffield United on Saturday.

A couple of former Leeds performers were delighted following the latest win, that saw sorry Reading have no answer for the Whites’ brilliance.

Noel Whelan played 48 times for Leeds between 1993 and 1995, scoring seven goals.

Born in the city, he tweeted:

Dominic Matteo was part of the Leeds squad that lost to Valencia in the Champions League semi-final of 2001.

He too was delighted with the Whites’ performance and called for the same again on Saturday, tweeting:

Boss Marcelo Bielsa looks set to finally end the Whites’ exile from the Premier League, with his side looking every inch promotion contenders.

Supporters, players, staff and heroes of old all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

The club is geared towards the Premier League in terms of stadium, fanbase and infrastructure.

With Bielsa at the helm, not too many people would back against them going up and competing in the top flight either.
