Leeds United fans rave about Luke Ayling in ‘crazy’ Birmingham contest

Leeds United proved their automatic promotion credentials with a stunning 5-4 win over Birmingham City.

The Whites were made to work for their win but the latest victory highlighted they might have the character to get over the line this year.

Goals from Helder Costa, Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Stuart Dallas and a Wes Harding own goal won the day for Leeds in a bizarre contest.

Following defeat for West Brom Leeds shot to the summit of the Championship and have nine more points than Fulham in third.

This latest victory might just have supporters of the Whites convinced things can be different this season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have played an attractive brand of football this season and they sit in a deserved league position.

Seeing the job through proved problematic last season, however. Leeds were in a similar position at this stage during 2018/19 but were forced to settle for the play-offs where they eventually lost.

The 28-year-old has been a consistent performer for Leeds this season, occasionally captaining the side in the absence of Liam Cooper.
