Leeds United did some great business in the loan market this summer, bringing in players from some of the Premier League’s top teams. Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman both arrived from Chelsea, whilst winger Jack Harrison has joined the club from Manchester City.
Harrison has also been at the youth academy of one of Leeds’ biggest rivals, Manchester United.

The wide-man was at United for seven years until the age of 14. It is from there that he embarked on a different path, coming through the American system before excelling in Major League Soccer. He joined Manchester City from sister club New York City in January which has led him to Leeds.
But Leeds fans will be buoyed to hear that he did not just get released like so many at 14 by their rivals. In fact, Harrison turned them down.
He told The Telegraph in 2017:
“United were disappointed but I don’t regret going out to America at all. I have not only learnt a lot there about football but I have learnt a lot about life in general. I’m a well-rounded person, being at all these different places and meeting different people. It has definitely helped me become who I am today and, luckily for me, it’s all worked out.”
Leeds United will ultimately not benefit long-term from Harrison’s development this season unless certain events transpire. But it is great to know that they have a player in their ranks right now who once told Manchester United he was not interested in sticking around.
That sort of strong mentality can certainly help Leeds out this season.
