Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has suggested that he plans to stay at Elland Road for the entirety of his contract.

The American took over at Elland Road on 28 February, a day after the board parted company with Marcelo Bielsa.

Marsch penned a contract with Leeds until 2025.

Marsch’s first game saw Leeds fall to a 1-0 defeat to Leicester, though the Whites looked much more solid.

However, Leeds then suffered a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Aston Villa in their next game.

Since then, Marsch has steadied the ship and recorded two consecutive victories, against Norwich and Wolves.

Admittedly, they weren’t routine wins; Leeds needed injury-time goals to get over the line in both games.

Nonetheless, the Whites can breathe a lot easier going into the international break.

Leeds have a seven-point cushion between themselves and the Premier League relegation zone.

“This isn’t just a four-month gig”

On Tuesday, Leeds Live published a transcript of an interview Marsch has conducted with SiriusXM.

In it, the 48-year-old talks about what he’s made of his new surroundings.

“The people here at Leeds are fantastic,” said Marsch. “They are humble, hardworking, friendly and kind.

“They have a chip on their shoulder, they do. It is the same as me, I have a chip on my shoulder too.

“I like it more when people are talking for me, rather than against me.

“But it is alright for me, between me, the club, the people and the fans, I have felt from the beginning that there is an energy and symmetry with us all.

“Let’s see where we can go. It’s just the start, we have a lot of work to do. The last part is that the club are committed to me, this isn’t just a four-month gig.

“This is a three-and-a-half year gig and this is the reason why I came, because they believe in me so much and I believe in them.

“So, there’s a lot to this, but for me, it is just about trying my best every day.”
