'Played so well': Marsch suggests 23-year-old has made him rethink Leeds transfer plans

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has given his verdict on the club’s current left-back situation.

The Whites boss is currently without Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas, who are coming back from injuries.

This has seen Marsch opt for Pascal Struijk – a centre-back by trade – on the left side of defence.

Leeds have been linked with left-backs over the past few weeks, but nothing seems to have come of the speculation.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Marsch said Leeds “feel better” about the left-back situation due to Struijk.

The Whites boss feels the 23-year-old has done well in the past two games.

However, Marsch did stress that Leeds need reinforcements in attack.

“We’re trying to (make more signings),” he told Sky Sports.

“Behind the scenes, we’ve been very active. We’re trying to find ways to continue to find the right people.

“I fully trust the people I’m working with. It’s a lot of work and conversations.

“Sometimes, when nothing comes of it, you feel like it’s almost wasted time.

“But it’s the only way to get through transfer windows is to just constantly communicate with agents and players and inside clubs. So there’s still time.

“We know we need an attacking player. We feel better about the left-back situation because Pascal’s played so well.

“But you’re always just looking to seize opportunities – something might pop up that is unexpected.

“We’ve done a good job at bringing players in early, to make decisions early – but we’ve left enough room to also be flexible enough to capitalise on situations that could be advantageous.”

Earlier on Friday, Marsch told Leeds Live that Firpo and Luke Ayling are “maybe a week or two away” from a return.

Meanwhile, Dallas is “still coming along with his injury”.
