Hearts and Vitesse Arnhem are leading the chase to sign Leeds forward Jay-Roy Grot on loan, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The Dutchman was on loan in Holland last season with VVV-Venlo, scoring six goals in 33 appearances for the club.
Since arriving at Elland Road for £750k in 2017 he has started just once for the Whites, along with several appearances from the bench.
Unless Marcelo Bielsa sees a place for him in his immediate plans, the forward will head out on a temporary spell once more.
Hearts are in need of a striker. They opted to release David Vanecek after just six months recently, whilst they haven’t struck a deal to keep Steven Naismith just yet either.
A return to Holland could well appeal more to the player, however. His time at NEC last season saw him settle and he was a regular in their team.
Grot never got going at Leeds and it seems unlikely that he ever will do.
During his one appearances and brief cameo offerings, he looked lost and often saw games pass him by.
At 21 there is hope that he could still improve, although that improvement would need to be considerable to persuade Bielsa to hand him a reprieve.
Leeds have better options in attack these days and if Grot sticks at Elland Road he is going to be way down the pecking order.
Grot’s days in West Yorkshire look numbered and a move to either Hearts of Vitesse looks like being the best bet for the player.
