Leeds set for glimpse of Mason Holgate after opting not to sign in January

Leeds United lock horns with Championship promotion rivals West Brom this evening looking to return to the top of the league.

The Whites can return to the summit with all three points against Darren Moore’s side who are currently fourth.

Marcelo Bielsa saw his side miss an opportunity in midweek when his team were beaten 1-0 by QPR.

Leeds remain in the hunt, however, and will look to claim a win on home soil this evening.

The West Yorkshire-based side will get to have a look first-hand tonight at what they could have signed in January.

Mason Holgate joined the Baggies on loan from Everton during the window, amid interest from Leeds.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (23/12; page 61), Holgate was on Bielsa’s list of targets but for whatever reason, it never came to anything.

The 22-year-old has contributed to West Brom picking up their form and thrusting themselves into automatic promotion contention.

The attacking right-back will likely start for Moore’s side at Elland Road this evening.

Leeds will hope that their reported January target doesn’t contribute to what would be a massive win for the Baggies this evening.

The Whites have Luke Ayling at right-back and at times this season he has looked out of sorts.

Having played 38 Premier League games for the Toffees, Leeds will hope the failure to land Holgate doesn’t come back to haunt them.
