Leeds United star Pablo Hernandez has once again reiterated his desire to finish his career elsewhere.

The Spanish midfield wizard has been one of Leeds’ greatest players of the post-Premier League era and is now hoping to help guide the club back to the top-flight.

At 35-years-old, and with a contract that runs until 2022, you might imagine that Elland Road could be the last stop on this Leeds hero’s impressive career.

However, speaking to MARCA this week, Hernandez again made it clear that his desire was to one day play for and then retire at his boyhood club CD Castellon.

“I have always said it, I have never hidden myself in that. If I can, if it’s up to me, it will be so. Experience tells me that in football you cannot always be where you want. It is always easier when you want to be in that place and, in that place, they want you to be.

“Hopefully, it would be a dream for me, especially for the fans and my family, that my whole family can see me play in Castalia with the CD Castellón shirt Sunday after Sunday.”

He also admitted that he was aware that it might not happen, because of the unpredictable nature of football.

Hernandez came through the ranks with the Pam Pam Orellut and has recently been involved in the ownership structure of the club.

As yet, he has not managed to play for his hometown club, as he moved to Valencia as a teenager and made his breakthrough with Los Ches.

But it appears his goal is still to one day play for the club, who are currently playing in Spain’s third-tier.

That does not seem to be anytime soon, but with the clock ticking on his career, it won’t be long before Hernandez is hoping to turn out for his boyhood club and fulfill his footballing dream.
