Leeds United failed in their quest to secure promotion to the Premier League this season. The Whites were beaten by Derby County in the play-offs and must now prepare for another campaign of Championship football.
The failure to reach the top-flight will probably come at a cost to the club. Several players could depart, leaving Leeds with a rebuilding process to oversee.
Jack Clarke, Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe have all caught the eye this season and the trio might attract interest from elsewhere.
One player who could earn a Leeds reprieve is Hadi Sacko. The midfielder has been on loan in Turkey with Ankaragucu, where last night he helped the team guarantee their top-flight status for another season.
Sacko netted the first goal of the evening, setting his temporary club on their way towards a 3-1 win over Sivasspor.
The 25-year-old has 60 appearances to his name already for Leeds so he is no stranger to life at Elland Road or indeed the Championship.
On occasions this season, Leeds have been crying out for someone to change a game from the bench and Sacko could provide that next season.
The Malian winger has only netted three goals during his loan in Turkey. At Leeds, however, he would be playing with better players and Bielsa would be wise to take another look at him during pre-season.
Obviously, Sacko isn’t going to instantly prove to be the answer to all of Leeds’ problems. An injection of confidence might have done him the world of good during his loan spell, however, and another chance might well be on the cards.
