Leeds United are being linked with a move for Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods. As reported by The Sun on Sunday (07/07/2019, pg 61) the midfielder is being eyed up as a potential replacement for Kalvin Phillips. Leeds do not wish to sell their midfield general, but Aston Villa are seemingly ready to spend big to secure his services.
As reported by the Daily Mail this weekend, Woods has been made available for transfer at Stoke, with a £6 million valuation on his head.
So it is no surprise to hear that Leeds United may be keen. Indeed, Leeds fans will not be surprised.
Because Woods was linked with a move to Elland Road last summer.

Last year, the Yorkshire Evening Post suggested that Leeds had ‘shown interest’ in the then Brentford midfielder. His energy and pressing style makes him suited to Marcelo Bielsa’s footballing philosophy. Woods, of course, went on to join Stoke City.
By August, that interest was said to be ‘cooling’ by Wales Online, with the returning Mateusz Klich clearly a factor. Just like now, Swansea City were also keen on Woods and missed out to the Potters.
This summer, Leeds clearly have a chance to reignite that interest but it seems only if Phillips leaves the club. There’s no doubt which player Leeds fans would prefer to have at Elland Road next season.
