Leeds United are reportedly looking into a potential deal to sign Daniel James from Manchester United, should the Welshman fall completely out of favour at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are still on the hunt for Jadon Sancho this summer with Ivan Perisic said to be another potential target – leaving James on the fringes.
As reported by the Daily Star, Leeds would be looking at a season-long loan deal for the wideman with a potential to buy him the following summer. The Sun has since also reported on the story, so it seems Leeds are indeed on the hunt for James again.
Leeds narrowly missed out on a deal for James in 2019, with the ordeal being well-documented in the Amazon Prime documentary Take Us Home.
Victor Orta was even reduced to tears after failing to deliver Marcelo Bielsa his main transfer target.
But what do Leeds fans think about the possibility of signing James now?
It would be safe to say it is a mixed bag. Plenty of Leeds fans simply do not see the need for his signature, with Jack Harrison and Helder Costa both enjoying promising starts to the season.
Others believe his form since joining United has left little to be desired and Leeds should be perhaps thankful they never brought him in.
But plenty of Leeds fans are still as keen on the James deal as they were back in 2019, when he was considered the missing link in their hunt for promotion to the Premier League.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter to the news Leeds are looking at James once again.
Good bench player. No way he starts ahead of Harrison or Costa but we don’t have another quality option if either is tired or injured.

Struggle to see where he’d fit in. Harrison / Costa & Klich seem to have hit the ground running this season.

That ship has sailed unfortunately

If this is true, I am well for this. Kick Start the lads career again

Dan James would be a good signing if he was for the bench #lufc

Unpopular opinion, but I think Dan James would be a decent signing.

Let’s try again then I guess??😂

Don’t think I’m keen on Dan James for now. We need more bodies and variety in midfield, today made that clear. I’d suggest one advanced and a 2nd Forshaw (a good time to try Lewis Cook?). #LUFC

Tbh I’d love us to sign Dan James, I want a team and a fan base to treat him right 🥺

I thought we dodged a bullet because Dan James has been a flop at their place. Maybe Bielsa can make something of him. #lufc
