Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear has told BBC Radio Leeds that the club is getting close to an agreement with star midfielder Kalvin Phillips over a new deal at Elland Road.
Kinnear has told the BBC that he and Phillips’ agent both believe a contract extension for the player is ‘very close’.
The Yorkshire Evening Post is reporting that there were talks last Thursday (29/08/19) about a potential new deal. They suggest Leeds knocked back a transfer offer ‘well in excess of £20 million’ in the summer for the player, with Aston Villa heavily linked with an interest in his services.

Leeds United fans are understandably desperate for their midfield talisman to sign a new deal at Elland Road.
The club sold Kemar Roofe with just one year left on his current deal this summer and fans will fear losing one of their biggest assets on the cheap again next summer if a new deal cannot be agreed for Phillips.
Plenty of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to share their opinion on the latest update and nearly all of them just want an agreement done as soon as possible.
