It has been a successful season for the Leeds United under-23 side.

Carlos Corberan has guided the youngsters to great achievements this term. They recently won the Professional Development League title and the trophy haul has certainly left one player feeling proud.

Hugo Diaz showed off his collection of silverware from the season on his official Twitter account this week.

The Spaniard is clearly proud of his displays this season, during which he has often been used as under-23 captain.

Leeds United fans were certainly quick to praise the player, with some suggesting he could be in line for senior football at Elland Road soon:

However, Diaz clearly has a fight on to play regular football for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa.

At 22-years-old, he is one of the older players in the squad and has already made his Leeds first-team debut, being called up under Paul Heckingbottom during an injury crisis last term.

But when a similar crisis hit this term Bielsa turned instead to giant Finland youth international Aapo Halme to fill the void. Diaz has not been used in the first-team, other than as an unused substitute in the 2-1 FA Cup loss at QPR.

With Pontus Jansson out injured for the first-leg of the play-offs at the weekend, Diaz again could have been called up. Instead, Dutch talent Pascal Struijk got the call. For whatever reason, the former Deportivo man is not making a breakthrough into the Leeds first-team.

Which is a shame, because he has impressed for Corberan’s men this season. It will be interesting to see if Bielsa has any plans for him beyond the current campaign.
