Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Tyler Roberts exit reports

Had Leeds United fans been asked to pick which members of the squad they expected to see linked with moves away this summer, it seems unlikely that many would have suggested Tyler Roberts.

Roberts has had an interesting time at Leeds. He had to wait months for his debut due to injury, and it would be quite easy to spark a debate surrounding what his best position is likely to be.

On his day, he has been unplayable. And he has produced those sorts of performances in a variety of roles. His cameo against Hull City in February provided one of the defining images of the club’s promotion-winning campaign.

However, it appears that he could be on the move this summer. The Times has reported this week that Derby County are interested.

It is not clear from the report whether the Rams are eyeing a permanent move or a loan deal. It is also not stated what Leeds’s stance on his future is.

‘Don’t even think about selling Roberts’

But what is clear is that the subject of the Wales international’s future has divided some supporters on social media.

Many have insisted that Roberts should not be allowed to leave. He clearly has the quality to make an impact at the highest level – even if he is not going to play as much as he would like.

Some believe that Leeds should only be willing to let Roberts go for big money. Others meanwhile, have stated that only a loan move makes any sense for the Whites.

What the majority of fans appear to agree on however, is the fact that Roberts has the potential to be a key man for Leeds for years to come.
