Leeds United fans should not be too surprised to see that on a difficult day at Kenilworth Road where Marcelo Bielsa’s side had to scrap to snatch the three points late on, Ben White stood out as arguably the best player on the pitch.
Leeds are back into second in the Championship after a 2-1 win at Luton Town. It was not a performance that the fans are likely to remember too fondly come the end of the campaign. But they will be hoping that the stoppage-time winner proves to be important by the time the season concludes.

Patrick Bamford appears to have had the winner taken from him. But there is no question that he bagged the first goal. And there is surely no doubt that someone is going to need to produce something incredibly special to provide a better assist than White’s for the opener.
The centre-back was alert after the referee called play-on when Kalvin Phillips and Izzy Brown collided on the edge of the Leeds box. He then produced an outstanding run up the pitch that took him to the edge of the final third.

The Brighton loanee then rolled a perfect pass for Bamford to run onto. The striker took advantage of the opportunity and drilled the ball in at the near post.
Like his assist, it has a remarkable run from White since arriving at Elland Road in the summer. He has arguably been Leeds’s best player over the course of the campaign. And not many would have predicted that in the summer when there was plenty of concern as Pontus Jansson was given the green light to leave for Brentford.
The Leeds supporters on social media are delighted that White has joined them. He looks to be a fantastic signing for Bielsa’s men.
But following the win at Luton, some have expressed their disappointment at how unlikely a future permanent deal looks. His value is probably increasing with every performance, and it looks more than likely that he will be playing in the Premier League on a regular basis from next season.
Some fans have suggested that the club must break the bank if they go up. It is probably fair to say that plenty of supporters would happily see the 22-year-old become Leeds’s most expensive signing of all-time.
Here is what some of the Leeds fans were saying about White’s performance at Luton…
