Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is in line to make his England debut this evening against Denmark in Copenhagen and supporters are mightily excited.
According to the Daily Mail, the holding midfield is set to be part of an experimental England side as Gareth Southgate looks to build on Saturday’s win in Iceland.
The 24-year-old was instrumental last season as the Whites romped to the Championship title and this would cap a fine 12 months.
Phillips will become the first Leeds star to don the Three Lions since Alan Smith in 2004 and supporters are already getting excited at the possibility.
It seems as though some supporters thought he might be in the squad just for the experience of training with the group.
Some anticipated he might not actually play until he’d tasted Premier League action but he looks set to get the nod from Southgate.
The Daily Mail has predicted Phillips to play alongside West Ham star Declan Rice in midfield.
Following the news that Southgate is set to hand Phillips his first international cap, Leeds fans have taken to Twitter.
They adore the 24-year-old and can’t wait to see him wearing the England strip this evening.
Here is a selection of Tweets from Leeds supporters with Phillips set for his England bow.
