Leeds United fans react as Pierre-Michel Lasogga heads to Qatar

Leeds United’s former striker has joined Qatari outfit Al Arabi.

When it emerged that Pierre-Michel Lasogga was a free agent this summer some Leeds United fans wondered whether an Elland Road return could be on the cards.

Lasogga was a popular figure at Leeds United. The German, on loan from Hamburg, was a regular under Thomas Christiansen and had spates of goalscoring form.

However, Paul Heckingbottom was not as keen and he was barely playing by the end of his Leeds loan. In the summer, he returned to Hamburg, who had just been relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.

Lasogga had a decent season for the club but Hamburg spectacularly bottled their chances of promotion and needed to trim the wage-bill this summer.

But Lasogga will not be coming back to Leeds United. Instead, he will be heading to Qatar.

Al Arabi have confirmed that Lasogga has joined the club on a free transfer. The Qatari Stars League side will be hoping the German can help fire them to a title challenge next season.

Leeds fans, on the whole, are happy for Lasogga in his new endeavor.

Others were fairly disappointed to hear that this Leeds-related news from Qatar was not that of a big-money takeover from PSG owners QSI.

Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
